"I didn't recognise myself anymore"

There was a time when I avoided mirrors, photos, and even social events. I felt trapped in a body that didn't reflect who I was inside. Years of yo‑yo dieting, quick fixes, and giving up too soon had left me heavier, more tired, and more frustrated than ever.

At my heaviest, I was 7 stone overweight. I told myself I’d “start on Monday” more times than I could count. But deep down, I knew I needed a different approach — one that didn’t rely on punishing workouts or cutting out everything I enjoyed.

Discovering the power of calorie counting

One day, I decided to strip away the noise and focus on the one thing that truly mattered for weight loss: energy balance. I learned how to track my calories in a way that was flexible, realistic, and — most importantly — sustainable.

Instead of banning foods, I made them fit. Chocolate? Yes. Meals out? Absolutely. I built my days around high‑protein, satisfying meals and allowed space for the things I loved. The guilt disappeared, and so did the weight — steadily, week after week.

Over time, the scales showed a 7‑stone loss, but the real transformation was in my confidence, energy, and self‑belief. I started saying yes to things I'd avoided for years — from beach holidays to family photos. I felt present in my own life again.
